Penny Withers
Penny Withers composes forms from thrown clay slabs and pours combinations of glazes over their surface. With most of her career spent working with ceramic materials and processes, she feels comfortable using them expressively, always with a sense of wonder at their unpredictability. Every step, every mark, pour, or dip is different, slightly, either because of material density or heat variation.
Her inspiration stems from wild landscapes, wild plants, and wild stories.
