Juliette Hamilton

Juliette originally trained at Manchester Metropolitan University in Textile design, gaining a BA Hons specialising in weave.

She went back to college a few years later to study horticulture and garden design. The willow sculpture emerged unexpectedly from the garden design after the college held a weekend course.

Juliette’s willow sculptures are mainly of animal forms, made from different varieties and colours of dried willow which are soaked in water making them pliable. The flowing organic shapes of animals and the surprising process of intensely investigation a new subject are what interest her. Her weaving suggests movement, weight and muscle tone and results in something beautiful and life-like but with character. Each piece is unique and evolves which makes the whole process exciting and fresh.
